21 June 2019 - Honeybees visit Fairfield House

Honeybees visit Fairfield House

On the morning of Friday 21st June, a swarm of honeybees were discovered to have taken a liking to our residents’ compost bin, in the back garden of Fairfield House. Residents were immediately made aware.
With the assistance of the Essex Beekeepers Association, Beekeepers John Furguson and Roy Smith (in disguise) came to safely collect the uninvited visitors, a majority on the same day and a few unwilling stragglers during two further visits. We are very grateful to all involved.
Everyone is aware today how valuable these small creatures are to us all. There is a wealth of information on the Essex Beekeepers Association website including how they can assist with swarm removal.
